Intriguing thought on whether it would also work with TWB files but I suspect the answer is yes. Would definitely be interested in seeing you test that, too, since I am thinking of migrating away from Tableau.
My hunch is that Prep files are “simpler”. Even a complex flow doesn’t really have space for much “baggage” - every part of a flow is there for a purpose. A TWB on the other hand might be full of all sorts of chuff. Redundant calcs, super complex dashboard layouts, multiple similar worksheets. It would have to be much more iterative process, I think. Doable, therefore, but probably a lot of harder to make work generically
